dance noted down at the 'French Rocks' in 1851, by a competent musician—is a tune as regular as any devised by a French ballet composer, and, it may be added, bearing a curious and not remote resemblance to a style which has always been popular in French music, and which has been carried to perfection by Gounod, in certain movements of his music to 'Sappho,' 'Ulysse,' and 'Philemon and Baucis.'
