dance noted down at the 'French Rocks' in 1851, by a competent musician—is a tune as regular as any devised by a French ballet composer, and, it may be added, bearing a curious and not remote resemblance to a style which has always been popu­lar in French music, and which has been carried to perfection by Gounod, in certain movements of his music to 'Sappho,' 'Ulysse,' and 'Philemon and Baucis.'
